PROGRAM POLICIES & wAIVER

PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING FOR AN ADULT FITNESS CLASS

POLICIES

  • All our fitness classes require prior registration. We register for our classes three times a year: Winter/Spring, Summer and Fall. We do not offer drop-in classes or single class registration. You may not attend a class without registering for it under any circumstances.

  • You can receive a refund for a Fall class or a Winter/Spring class if you make the request before the session starts. We will deduct a $10 processing fee per class from the refund. Otherwise, classes are non-refundable. We do not give refunds for Summer classes.

By registering for a fitness class, you agree to the following terms and conditions which are necessary for the safety and enjoyment of all participants:

  • Classes are Co-Ed and restricted to participants 18 years and older.

  • Refrain from coming to class if you feel the least bit unwell.

  • You are responsible for cleaning any common equipment prior to use with available antiseptic wipes.

  • Wear appropriate non-slip footwear, with non-marking soles, unless instructor permits bare feet.

  • Should you have a health condition or injury, consult your physician before registering to determine whether it is safe for you to do these exercises.

  • Arrive on time for class. This is particularly important for Yoga and Pilates as they require a quiet environment. If you cannot arrive on time for these classes, please do not attend at all.

  • Do not enter the room until the previous class is completely finished and participants have had an opportunity to put equipment away and exit the room.

  • Cell phones must be put on silent mode and any calls must be taken outside the class. Talking to other participants during class should be limited so as not to disrupt the class.

  • Refrain from wearing strong fragrance to accommodate those with allergies.

  • Refrain from leaving class early as it can be disruptive and it is important to follow the cool down segment prepared by the instructor so that you have completed the class in a safe & healthy manner.

  • Any participants who arrive late or leave early are responsible for conducting their own warm up or cool down.

  • Please note that NO CHILDREN of any age are allowed in the gym during adult programs, even on an occasional basis. This is a Toronto Parks and Recreation policy. Participants who disregard this policy can be removed from programs.

RISK & LIABILITY WAIVER

I attest that, to the best of my knowledge, I do not currently suffer from a health condition or infectious disease such as COVID-19 that makes it unsafe for me or others to participate in this class.

I recognize that there is a risk of injury associated with exercise activities and I willingly assume such risk of injury. In consideration for being permitted to participate in this class, I hereby release, waive and forever discharge Armour Heights Adult Committee and the City of Toronto, and their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, agents and volunteers, from all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, losses, expenses and legal fees, whatsoever and howsoever caused, arising by reason of my participation in this class.

SHARING OF INFORMATION

Please note that Armour Heights Adult Committee is required to share your name, address and year of birth with the City of Toronto in order to get space at the community centre as a not-for-profit group.

COMMUNITY CENTRE CLOSURES

As the community centre is used year-round, it must be closed periodically for cleaning and maintenance, as well as for elections. We may also be forced to close on occasion due to strikes, inclement weather, no access to gym/instructor, etc. These closures are beyond our control and NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN under these circumstances. We regret any inconvenience. For further information on closures, please contact the Community Recreation Programmer for the City of Toronto, Parks, Forestry & Recreation at (416) 392-6570.
In the case of inclement weather, please check this website and, if nothing is posted, call the custodian at (416) 395-7849 to check if the community centre is open. We endeavour to keep participants updated through the website but, as a volunteer-run organization, we are not always able to post information on short notice about weather-related closures.

We thank you in advance for respecting our rules and being considerate of other participants so everyone can enjoy the fitness programs!
